Q&A with Colin Breavington
What’s the most interesting part of your job?
Working collaboratively with others to solve problems. The team here at Credentially are great, amongst the best I have ever worked with.
What has been the biggest work challenge you’ve faced over the last 12 months?
Being an absolutely terrible educator to my children. Various school closures meant that my children needed a home education. I did one lesson on Excel formulas which they seemed to enjoy, but it turns out this was not on the curriculum. Fortunately my amazing wife was able to provide the education that our children needed!
What do you think makes Credentially a unique place to work?
The team is awesome, I see heroics on a daily basis as people go above and beyond for our customers and colleagues. It's truly humbling stuff. Our customers are very engaging too, providing useful feedback and are very much a part of the journey to reduce non-clinical workload so that patients can get more time getting the treatment they need.
What are you most looking forward to for the rest of 2021?
Healthcare is vital to everyone, and healthcare organisations all over the world need the staff and resources to provide world class services. Credentially is helping healthcare professionals to maintain their compliance and healthcare organisations to onboard staff, saving millions of hours in wasted clinical time. This means healthcare services can spend more time saving lives, supporting patients and helping them to recover. Mostly, I am looking forward to helping our customers do more of this.
What will the 'new normal' look like?
I believe (even before Covid) a common mistake in business is believing that there is some sort of "normal" or magic formula. Every business is different and its approach should be based upon what provides the best opportunity for success. I am sure Covid has opened many eyes to new ways of thinking and approaching problems, and many businesses will continue with new behaviours that they have recently learned. However, we mustn't forget what was great before Covid, in particular ensuring that we invest in people, especially young workers who will need opportunities to gain experience; working from home may seem great, and it is very much part of all our future, but we must also work out ways to ensure that those entering the jobs market or looking to develop their careers get exposure to more experienced individuals. We cannot afford to leave these people behind.
Claim to Fame?
I don't know why, but I enjoy a good B-movie. Asteroid vs Earth and Lavalantula 1 & 2 are amongst my favourites. However the most famous films within this genre are the Sharknado series, and these are truly special films. When they were filming Sharknado 5: Global Swarming, I was able to get myself a small amount of screen time, and now according to IMDB I am "known for" starring in this film. It was a great day out and a real joy to be on a film set.
Thanks Colin for agreeing to answer a few of our questions, and helping the team get to know you a little bit better!
